First Step

I’ve decided to sell my creations at a shop called Beehive Gallery in Newtown, which is a shop specialised in selling handmade goods. So many good-looking creations are nicely displayed there and it is actually quite daunting to be a part of it, but I thought I’d try and see if anyone would like to pay for what I made.

I just did a mock-up display on top of my desk and took photos of it. The space that I rented is quite small (approx. 33cmW x 33cmH x 38cmD) so hopefully they will all fit properly.

I’ll be taking them to Beehive Gallery and start selling them tomorrow around noon, so if you are interested, please pop in! They’re open till 7pm tomorrow (Thursday Shopping Night).

NewtownにあるBeehive Galleryというハンドメイド専門のお店で委託販売をしてみることに決めました。お店にはすごくたくさんの素敵なハンドメイドのものたちがきれいにディスプレイされていて、正直そこの一員になるのが結構恐ろしかったりもしたのですが、まあ、いっぺん、私の作品をお金を出して買ってくれる人がいるものかトライしてみようと思いまして･･･

作業机の上で売るものをちょっと試しにディスプレイして写真をとってみました。借りたスペースが結構小さいので(33cmW x 33cmH x 38cmD)、どうにかきれいに並べられたらいいなと思います。

明日の正午ごろよりいよいよ販売開始しますので、シドニーにいらっしゃる方でもしご興味があれば是非ともお立ち寄りくださいね！明日は木曜ショッピングナイトなので午後7時まで開いているそうです。

Colours

Hello everyone, first of all I apologise for putting up such random photos today! I know the photos aren’t good-looking  – I’ve just run out of energy after making so many things – but I love what I made anyway!

I was on a roll! I couldn’t stop my hands

My husband and I went to the vintage markets in our neighbourhood today and I bought a bag of old stamps. I love them because they use such wonderful combinations of colours!

I’m not an expert in colour matching, so sometimes I get ideas from old stamps, antique photos and furnitures etc. It’s amazing how some colours go together extremely well even though I never thought of such combinations before… I’m learning new things everyday.

皆様こんにちは。まずはじめに、今日の写真はものすごくテキトーですみません！いろいろ作り続けて、もうきちんとした写真を撮る力が残ってないです･･･疲れた。写真はテキトーでも、できあがったものたちは大変気に入っています。なんだか手が止まらなくてこんなに一気に作ってしまいました。

実は今日、近所のビンテージマーケットに夫と出かけたんですけど、そこで袋詰めされた古切手を買いました（開けたらホントにすごい量でした）。古い切手って大好きなんですよね、色のコンビネーションが絶妙なのがたくさんあるから。

カラーコーディネーターみたいな洒落た資格は持ってないものですから、ものづくりのときに時々色の組み合わせのヒントなどをこういう古いもの（古切手、古写真、アンティークの家具など）から得ています。「えっ、この色とこの色が～？」っていう組み合わせがすごくマッチしていたりして、おもしろいです。自分だったら絶対思いつかなそうな組み合わせだったりするので･･･勉強になります。

Bead Earrings + Brooch Pins

I made more earrings and brooch pins! This time I used some beautiful freshwater pearl, agate, tourmaline and howlite as well as glass beads.

I went to a bead shop today and bought more stones and beads in lots of different colours! I will be making many more accessories in the next few days and then posting more photos here

またまた作りました～、ピアスとブローチピンを。写真は一部ですが。今回は、ガラスビーズのほか、淡水パールやめのう、トルマリン、ハウライトも使ってみました。

実は今日、ビーズ屋にてまたいろんな色の石やビーズなどを購入しました！明日明後日とまたアクセサリー作りに勤しむ予定ですので、ブログもアップしますね。

Old Architectural Models

I made a lot of models during my architecture studies at university. For me, making architectural models is a bliss… I could just sit there cutting cardboard glueing them together for hours!

大学で建築を勉強していた時、数え切れないほどの模型を作りました。私にとって建築模型作りは無上の喜びなんです･･･ずっと座って切ったり貼ったり、時間を忘れてしまうほど。

写真は、大学の時に作った模型の一部です。

仕事で作ったものの写真もあるのですが、それはここで公開できるかちょっとわかりませんのでまた今度。

Kirigami – Japanese Art of Papercutting

My First Cartonnage

This is my first attempt to create a cartonnage box using Japanese brocade fabric. You can see that I didn’t do a good job on the top internal corner! I enjoyed doing this anyway Hopefully I’ll do a better job next time.

カルトナージュ第一作目です。金襴のはぎれを使ってみました。内側の角がきれいにできていないのが見えますね（汗）まあでも楽しんでできましたので良しとしましょう。次回はもうちょっとうまくできるといいな。

Introduction

Hello world! I’m *hime* (pronounced “hee-meh”). I’m from Japan, but I currently reside in Sydney, Australia with my loving husband.

This is my first blog ever and I hope I can keep it running for a long time.

Here I will be sharing with you my creations including sewing projects (clothes, bags and other fashion accessories), jewellery, cartonnage, paper craft and architectural models.
